Vasco Carvalho Marques has been a partner at TFRA since 2003, having joined the firm in 2001. He is experienced in tax law, particularly restructuring planning, international Tax law and tax litigation and arbitration. He also provides support in Corporate law.
He graduated in Law from Lisbon’s Catholic University in 1994 and completed a post-graduate course in Fiscal Studies at the University Institute of Lisbon – ISCTE (1988) and the Advanced Programme in Fiscal Studies at the Catholic University in Lisbon (2009).
He has been a Member of the Portuguese Bar Association since 1996, and the Association named him a specialist in fiscal law in 2007.
He was previously a Trainee Lawyer at VdA (1994-1996) and a senior fiscal consultant at Arthur Andersen (1999-2001).
Since 2005 he has also been assisting international clients set up businesses in Angola. He has been a member of TRFA’s Angolan Desk since 2009 and is a consultant at the Legal Group Africa, an Angolan law firm that specializes in international investment.
He is the co-author of the chapter on Portugal in “Retirement in Europe: The Tax Aspect” (International Tax Planning Association – ITPA), first edition 2006, second edition 2013.
He is fluent in Portuguese, English and Spanish.
